I stayed at the MGM Grand on my recent trip to Las Vegas. The Christmas decorations were all very beautiful and, of course, over the top!
I love this lion! When I arrived, he was decorated like this; I thought he was stunning!
I took that picture on Christmas morning. I wouldn't know until later how amazing the timing was. There are only two people in the photo, and you can barely see them! (I didn't edit or crop it in any way, for the record. :o)) Anyway - this was the first and last time I was ever in any place with so few people. I suppose touring the Las Vegas Strip on Christmas morning has its advantages.
(on the 27th they changed the display to some butt-ugly fighting ring, something to do with the fight held there on the 30th I think? Didn't pay much attention because I wasn't interested and... it was ugly. So NO pictures! lol)
There is also an even bigger lion out front. I think he's 3 stories tall or something ridiculous like that. I'm just guessing at that measurement. He's BIG, anyway.
The Christmas lion is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as "over the top" in Las Vegas. I think "Las Vegas" is Portuguese for "Crazy stupid over the top". How did you smuggle pictures out of Las Vegas, I'd always heard that "What happens if Vegas stays in Vegas" along with most of your money. Did you hear about the guy who went to Vegas in a $50,000 Cadillac and came home in a $200,000 Greyhound bus??? Hope you had Phun.
ReplyDeletehubby and I were laughing last night, the movie came on and the lion roared and we both roared with it. we both love the MGM lion and his roar. I like the lion in the first photo but not the great big one. the statue, not our photo. the photos are grrrrrreat as always
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat, Can I have a leaf off your money tree please, lol.
ReplyDeleteThat Christmas lion is gorgeous beyond belief! The red and gold is very noble with him and his lionness. ;)
